Inbound - Receiving credit for the units studied on Student Exchange and Study Abroad (SESA)

As a Student Exchange or Study Abroad (SESA) student, will I receive credit for the units I study at UWA towards my degree at my home university?

It's your responsibility to satisfy your home college or university requirements and understand and fulfil credit transfer requirements. We recommend you discuss this with the Study Abroad Office at your home university first. They will inform you on whether you need to complete specific units to meet your home degree requirements.

As final enrolment is subject to timetabling constraints and unit availability, it is recommended approval is obtained for over and above the number of units required to fulfil a full academic load at UWA (a full academic load at UWA is 4 six-point units). This will allow some flexibility to change units if necessary, for example if there are timetable clashes, units are not approved or you change your mind.

Once you have chosen your units and enrolled in them, we will seek approvals for you to take them, based on your transcript showing you have met any prerequisites required.

The relevant Student Office at UWA will review your units and either:

  • approve your units - no further action is required
  • request additional information from you - for example, they may need a more current academic transcript, the syllabus for a particular unit (course) that is on your transcript
  • not approve your unit(s) - they will request that you select different unit(s) and try again.

Your enrolment by completing a change of enrolment form or visiting your Student Advising Office.
