What are Defence Trade Controls?

If you are collaborating with people outside of Australia on military technology or on any of the areas listed in the Defence and Strategic Goods List (DSGL), and your research does not have an exemption, you may need to obtain the relevant permissions from the Commonwealth Department of Defence (DoD) to make it possible to collaborate on research in these areas.
